Living La Vida Katrina

It's been forever since I've written anything here.

Unless you've been on life support for the last 4 months you know that my home town of New Orleans has been all but totally destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. What you may NOT know is that after 4 months not much progress has been made to restore any semblance of normalcy here. One can't help but wonder if the same would be true had this horrible disaster occurred in say South Beach, Miami. I think not.

Anyway, I'm workig out the stages of the Katrina experience:

Stage 1: Run for your life. A hurricane is coming.
Stage 2: Keep on going cos you can't go home. Try to reach your insurance company.
Stage 3: Find a place to be for what may be a long while. Try to reach your insurance company.
Stage 4: Return home. Try to reach your insurance company.
Stage 5: Access the damage. Try to reach your insurance company.
Stage 6: Wait for your insurance company to pay up so you can begin repair.

That is as far as I've gotten. I'll keep you posted.

On the positive side. I'm back at my old job. I'm trying to remember that it's a job; not an adventure.

I've decided that for the New Year:

1. I will focus on the good things to come: Examples - Mardi Gras (dust off the wigs and tutu), Botox injections and Jazz Fest.

2. I will discover the difference between what I want and what I need.

3. I will cut back on sugar. I use it like a drug.

4. I will go back to the gym as soon as it opens.

That's about it. Oh! And I will continue to write on this blog.
